Recommendations and Tips

-Oil Paints:

We highly recommend using professional quality oil paints for better texture, pigment, and greater ease of use. The following can create a wide range of colors when mixed. These paints can be found either through your local art store or online retailers such as Blick and Jerrys Artarama:

·       Titanium White

·       Quinacridone Red

·       Cadmium Red

·       Cadmium Yellow Pale

·       Yellow Ochre Pale

·       Viridian

·       Ultramarine Blue

·       Transparent Oxide Brown

-Gamsol:

Generally, the lowest priced options for this paint solvent can be found through your local Hobby Lobby

-Canvas:

Canvases can be found at your local art store. Plan for one canvas between the sizes of 8”x10” to 11”x14” to be used per class.

-Easel and Palette:

If possible, find one that allows for quick setup and is easy to carry.

-Brushes:

A palette knife is also a helpful tool for texture and mixing.
